Terms of service

Calciopoly is a web platform that lets an organiser create a football tournament, build the teams, generate the fixtures, enter results and live events, and publish it all on a public page reachable at an address such as calciopoly.it/your-tournament.

Calciopoly is a tool: it does not organise tournaments, does not referee, does not look after people or pitches, and is not a party to the relationship between the organiser and the participants.

Using the service requires an account with a valid email address. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for whatever happens through your account. If you suspect unauthorised access, tell us.

You must be at least 18 to create an account and buy a tournament.

The price is €30, one off, per tournament, VAT included. It is not a subscription: there is no renewal and you will not be charged again. Each new tournament is a new purchase.

Payment is handled by Stripe. The purchase is complete when Stripe confirms the payment to us: from that moment the tournament's paid features unlock. You will receive the tax documents required by law.

Before paying you can create a draft tournament and see how it works: some features stay locked until the tournament is paid for.

The content you enter remains yours. By uploading it you only authorise us to store, process and display it on your tournament's pages and in the export formats the service offers: that is what it takes to deliver the service, and nothing more. We do not use it for other purposes and we do not pass it on.

You are responsible for what you publish. You undertake not to enter unlawful or offensive content, content infringing others' rights (trademarks, logos, photographs), or personal data you are not authorised to process.

When you add players, you upload other people's personal data onto a page that will be public and indexable by search engines. In respect of that data you are the controller; Calciopoly is the processor storing it on your behalf.

You therefore undertake to inform the players and to have a legal basis for publishing their data. If the tournament involves minors, the consent of whoever holds parental responsibility is required. Should we receive a legitimate erasure request from a player and you fail to act on it, we may remove the data.

We do our best to keep the service reachable, but we do not guarantee a service level or the absence of interruptions: they can happen because of maintenance, faults, or causes attributable to our hosting providers.

Tournament lifecycle: a finished tournament is archived automatically 7 days after its end date. Archived means read-only: it stays publicly viewable but can no longer be edited. You can close or archive it earlier, whenever you like.

We are committed to making Calciopoly usable also by those who navigate with the keyboard alone, with a screen reader, with the screen greatly magnified or without distinguishing colours. Our technical reference is the European standard EN 301 549 and, within it, the WCAG 2.1 level AA guidelines.

How the service meets those requirements, what does not meet them today and how to report a barrier is set out in the Accessibility statement, linked at the bottom of every page: it forms part of these terms and is updated together with them.

Part of what appears on a tournament's pages is written by you: names, descriptions, rules, logos, colours. The accessibility of that content depends on your choices — starting with colour contrast and the readability of the text you paste in. We ask you to bear this in mind.

If you buy as a consumer, that is for purposes outside your trade or profession, the law normally gives you fourteen days to change your mind without having to give a reason.

Calciopoly, however, is digital content delivered to you immediately, and for this kind of product the law provides an exception. At the moment of payment we ask you two things together: to request immediate performance of the service and to acknowledge that, because of this, the right of withdrawal does not apply (Art. 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU; in Italy, Art. 59(o) of the Consumer Code). Without that tick the payment does not start, and the tick is never preselected.

That said, we give you more than the law requires of us. We voluntarily waive that exception for as long as the tournament stays offline: up to the moment you publish it, and in any case within fourteen days of purchase, you can write to us and we refund the full amount, without asking why. It is a guarantee we grant you, not a right the law gives you: we grant it because until the tournament is public you have not yet received what you paid for.

Publication is the point of no return. When you press «Publish», the tournament becomes visible to anyone at its public address: from that moment the product has been delivered in full and a refund is no longer possible. What counts is the first publication: taking the tournament offline afterwards does not reopen the window, and the system keeps the date you first published it.

To request a refund an email to the address at the bottom of this page is enough. We return the amount to the same means of payment you used, within fourteen days of the request, at no cost to you.

None of this affects your rights if the service is faulty or does not match what was promised: in that case you are covered by the legal guarantee of conformity, whether the tournament is published or not.

The service is provided «as is». To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect damage, loss of profit or of opportunity, nor for anything arising from the physical running of the tournament (injuries, sporting disputes, use of the pitches), which is outside the platform.

Nothing in this clause limits our liability for wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or in cases where the law does not allow it to be excluded — including the mandatory rights you have as a consumer.

In any event, our total liability towards you cannot exceed what you paid for the tournament concerned.

We may suspend or close an account or a tournament that breaches these terms or the law (unlawful content, attempts to abuse the platform, non-payment). Where possible we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right.

You can close your account whenever you like by writing to us. Closure entails deletion of the tournaments, except for data we are required by law to keep.

We may update these terms. Substantial changes will be notified to you by email with reasonable notice. Tournaments already purchased remain governed by the terms in force at the time of purchase, as regards price and features.

Italian law applies. If you are a consumer, the courts of the place where you live or are domiciled remain competent, and the mandatory consumer-protection rules of the EU country where you reside continue to apply.

Before going to court you may turn to an alternative dispute resolution body listed in the Italian ministerial registers. The European ODR platform can no longer be used: the regulation establishing it has been repealed and the platform was shut down in July 2025.
